James Michaels is an architect and designer with an award-winning portfolio of national and international work. With 25+ years of experience, James has led the design of numerous high-profile projects across multiple sectors including mixed-use, multifamily residential, hotel, office, and education. James believes that great design is a balance between form and program, and the result of a collaborative process between many individuals from concept to construction.

Prior to joining SCB, James served as a senior designer, Associate Director, and Studio Head at Skidmore Owings & Merrill’s Chicago office. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan.
